On the Work
Betty Yaghi’s canvases embody the spirit of action painting, built from balanced strokes, precise splashes, and detailed, almost romantic touches that let each large-scale work command the wall it hangs on. The surface reads as spontaneous, yet stays deliberately composed underneath, holding lightness and darkness, harmony and interruption, in the same frame. Working in the lineage of Abstract Expressionism and the free-associative gesture that Jackson Pollock brought to painting, Yaghi calls the results mind-scapes, aesthetic blueprints of the artist’s own intricate thought and emotional process.

Betty Yaghi
“To enchant a person with a painting is a moment where magic overpowers logic.”
Betty Yaghi (b. 1984) is a self-taught Lebanese contemporary artist. Time spent across Beirut, London, Miami, and Dubai has shaped a practice she calls “mind-scapes,” mental landscapes built from the free-associative gesture of Abstract Expressionism, in the lineage of Jackson Pollock. Her large-scale canvases, built from balanced strokes and precise splashes, read as spontaneous on the surface while staying deliberately composed underneath, holding lightness and darkness, harmony and interruption, within the same frame.
Her work has shown at major international fairs, including Art Basel, Paris Contemporary, Art Miami, ZONA MACO, Palm Beach Modern+Contemporary, and Art Dubai, reaching collectors as far as Australia and Hong Kong.
